- To add the indicator to a chart, simply select a chart, then double-click on the indicator in the Custom Indicators folder, select any non-default values you'd like to have modified, then select OK.

A: Yes you can trade mini lots (10K) using the MetaTrader platform.

0.01 lots = 1,000 units of base currency (or dollars) Our “micro” lot size.
0.10 lots = 10,000 units of base currency (or dollars) Our “mini” lot size.
1.00 lots – 100,000 of base currency (or dollars) Our “standard” lot size.
**Please note that you can trade in lot sizes that are not shown in the scale above. An example would be that you can
open up a 0.60 lot position (60,000 units), an 8.00 lot position (800,000 units), and even a 3.20 lot position (320,000 units). Please email us at sales@fxdd.com if you need help with this scale.
**Also, note that other brokers may use a different scale to trade certain size lots. For instance, another broker may show 1.00 lots on a mini account is 10,000 units.

Outgoing traffic depends on the user's activity. It is really small. Incoming traffic directly depends on the number of open chart windows.
Q: Can I receive alerts via Email?
A: Follow these steps to setup Email alerts within MetaTrader 4:
(All SMTP settings vary depending on your Internet Service Provider. If you get this error message, contact your ISP's technical support and ask them for the SMTP settings. If you use Outlook, you can find out the SMTP settings by going to Tools > Email Accounts > Next > Change (> Cancel when done).)
- Select to TOOLS > OPTIONS.
- Select the EMAIL tab.
- Edit these settings according to your ISP's requirements. Typically the light red text is a general guideline of what you should enter in. For clarification, call your ISP. (Note: Web email services such as Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail etc. will not work).
SMTP server - This is your ISP's mail server address.
SMTP login - This is your login ID to access your mail.
SMTP pass - Your mail password.
From - This is the email address the email will come from. This is typically the same address as stated in the SMTP login field.
To - The address you want it to go to.
Before you click on the "TEST" button be sure to select 'OK' to apply the settings, then go back into TOOLS > OPTIONS to test your settings. See the JOURNAL (Terminal window > Journal) for any error messages. The email settings in the Tools menu can be combined with an Expert Advisor or Alert that triggers an email sent to you. We don’t offer support for this.
- Navigate to the ALERTS tab in the TERMINAL window. Right-click anywhere in this window, and select "CREATE".
- Change the 'ACTION' menu to Mail.
- Set your parameters.
- To the far right of the 'SOURCE' field is a button with 3 dots, "...". Click this button to edit the specifics to your email, i.e. subject and body. (Note, if you want to send an email to your cell phone keep in mind that some cell phones are limited to 160 characters per message, including subject).
- We suggest editing the Timeout and Max Iterations menus.(see below)
- Click Ok.
Timeout means once the criteria is met it will wait X seconds before generating another signal.
Max iterations means it will generate a signal X amount of times before stopping.
Thus at default settings, if you don't edit this you will get an email every 10 seconds for the next 3 hours).
Q: Can I receive alerts on MT4 via text messaging?
A: To have the platform send these alerts to my cell phone as text messages, all you need to do is put in the right address in the 'To:' field in the Email options (TOOLS > OPTIONS > EMAIL).
This address varies by carrier (check with your service provider). Here are some examples:
- AT&T Wireless - 10digitphonenumber@mobile.att.net
- Verizon PCS - 10digitphonenumber@vtext.com
- T-Mobile - 10digitphonenumber@voicestream.net
- Sprint PCS - 10digitphonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
- Alltel - 10digitphonenumber@message.alltel.com
Q: I have specific user settings that I would like to apply each time I start my platform how can I set them to load? (MT4 - Templates)
A: Here is a way to save the settings to default so whenever you open a new chart your settings are automatically applied.
Once you have your chart the way you want it, go to the Template button (usually the last button on the right of the toolbar), click Save Template and give your template the name "default".
Saving a template will save these chart settings:
- Chart type (bars, candles or line)
- Color Chart Scale (zoomed in or out)
- Any Custom Indicators
- Any Expert Advisors
- Day separators
Q: Is Gold and Silver available in MetaTrader 4?
A: Currently, Gold and Silver can only be live traded using the FXDD Trader Platform. Gold and silver do appear in the Meta Trader 4 Demo Platform however, they are currently being Beta-Tested and may not
accurately reflect where Gold and Silver are currently trading. You can view the Live Gold and Silver rates in the FXDD Trader Platform.
Q: What happens if I have a stop loss on an open order, but I also have a trailing stop on the same order?
A: If the trailing stop gets triggered, there will be a new stop loss depending upon the trailing stop that you entered.
Q: Why am I not getting my daily/monthly confirmation or history reports in e-mail?
A: Note that in MT4, inactivity (no trades or open positions) temporarily suspends confirmations.
If there is account activity, Trade Support has determined that in more than 95% of the cases reported, we are in fact sending out the reports and can trace the acceptance of our e-mails on the clients e-mail server.
So......a few things could be happening here:
- The recipient's Internet Service Provider and/or e-Mail provider categorize e-mail from FXDD as SPAM and don't forward the messages.
- The recipient's local mail client (Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, etc.) categorize e-mail from FXDD as SPAM and moves it into a "junk e-mail or spam" folder.
- The recipient's local security suite (McAfee, Norton, ZoneAlarm, Kaspersky, etc.) categorize e-mail from FXDD as SPAM and deletes it or moves it to a special folder.
